Getting Started
How do I create an account?
Download Allowable from the App Store, open the app, and tap Sign Up. Enter your email address and follow the verification steps to create your parent account.
How do I add my child?
- Sign in to your parent account.
- Tap Add Child from the home screen.
- Enter your child's name and send them the secure invite link.
- Your child taps the link to join — no separate sign-up required.
Tasks and Chores
How do I assign a task?
Tap New Task, enter a name, set a deadline, and choose which child it's assigned to. Optionally require photo proof of completion.
How does proof of completion work?
When photo proof is required, your child uploads a photo after finishing the task. You review and tap Approve or Reject. Photos are automatically deleted after your decision.
What happens if a task is missed?
The task is marked overdue and the associated allowance amount is automatically deducted. Allowance never goes below $0. You can manually override any deduction at any time.
Allowance
How do I set a weekly allowance?
Go to your child's profile and tap Edit Allowance. Set the weekly amount and choose a payout day. The app tracks the balance automatically.
Does Allowable move real money?
No. Allowable tracks allowance but does not store, hold, or transfer money. You pay your child outside the app using Zelle, Apple Pay, cash, or any method you prefer, then mark the payment as complete in the app.
Can allowance go negative?
No. Allowable will never reduce a child's allowance below $0.
Billing and Subscriptions
What's included in the Free plan?
The Free plan includes one child account, weekly allowance tracking, task management, and photo proof of completion — all core features with no time limit.
What does Premium include?
Premium ($4.99/month) adds unlimited child accounts, the Bonus Task Board, and long-term goal tracking.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through Apple. To cancel:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
- Tap Allowable and then Cancel Subscription.

Can I get a refund?
Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to submit a refund request.
Account Management
How do I reset my password?
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot Password and enter your email. You'll receive a link to reset your password.
How do I delete my account?
- Open Allowable and sign in to your parent account.
- Tap Settings (gear icon, top right).
- Scroll to Account and tap Delete My Account.
- Confirm deletion. Your account and all associated data are permanently removed.
If you cannot access the app, email privacy@allowable.app with your request and we will delete your account within 30 days.
How do I remove a child account?
Go to the child's profile, scroll to the bottom, and tap Remove Child. This permanently deletes all their tasks, allowance history, and uploaded photos.
Privacy and Safety
Is Allowable safe for kids?
Yes. Allowable has no social features, no messaging, no public profiles, and no advertising. All activity is private within your family. Children cannot create accounts or invite others.
Where is my data stored?
Data is stored securely using Firebase (Google Cloud) with encryption at rest and in transit. Task-proof photos are automatically deleted after parent review.

Technical Issues
The app won't load or is crashing.
- Force-close the app and reopen it.
- Check that your device has an active internet connection.
- Update the app to the latest version from the App Store.
- Restart your device.
I'm not receiving notifications.
- Go to Settings → Notifications → Allowable on your device and confirm notifications are enabled.
- Check that Do Not Disturb or Focus modes are not blocking the app.
My invite link isn't working.
Make sure the link was opened on a device with Allowable installed. If the issue persists, remove the child account and send a new invite link.
